Weight Loss – Tirzepatide

MinuteMD Can Help You Reach Your Weight Loss Goals!

Let’s face it – sometimes reaching your goals is difficult on your own and you just need a little help. Our team of physicians and skilled staff is here to help you obtain your goals! One of our new weight loss protocols includes a prescription drug called tirzepatide to help you get there! Our tirzepatide is specifically compounded for you.

TIRZEPATIDE

Tirzepatide is a new medication that was FDA approved in May 2022 to treat Type 2 diabetes. It’s a once-weekly injection. When used along with diet and lifestyle changes, it can help lower blood sugar (glucose) levels. People taking it also tend to lose weight.

In addition to treating Type 2 diabetes, tirzepatide has been shown to help with weight loss in people without diabetes. A clinical trial of over 2,500 people with obesity or overweight experienced significant weight loss with weekly tirzepatide. Those treated with tirzepatide had an average weight loss of 15% to 20% of their starting body weight over 72 weeks (about 16 and a half months). Those taking the placebo (an injection with no medication in it) only had an average of 3% weight loss.

    HOW MINUTEMD WORKS

    Medical Questionnaire

Start by completing a medical questionnaire to capture your health needs and goals to determine eligibility in the program. A licensed doctor will review it with you and answer any questions you have.

    Enroll In The Program

If our licensed doctor determines that you are provisionally eligible for the program, you will complete a quick and easy enrollment. Once you are enrolled, your patient profile will be built out on our world class secure HIPAA-compliant portal called Healthie.

    Get Labwork Completed

After enrollment, our doctor will order you labwork which will be sent to you as a PDF. Simply take this to the specified lab (typically LabCorp or Quest Diagnostics) and present it to them to have your bloodwork drawn. There is no additional charge to you for this service!

    Physician's Review

Once your bloodwork test is completed, it is sent to us from the laboratory. Our physicians will then review your results to further assess eligibility and, if medically appropriate, prescribe the medicine you are requesting.

Prescription Is Shipped Direct To You!

Once prescribed by our physicians, your prescription is sent to our partner compounding pharmacy (or in some cases, another pharmacy of your choosing). Our partner pharmacy will then expedite shipping of your prescription (and supplies, if applicable) direct to your doorstep!

    Bloodwork Is Reanalyzed

In order to monitor your weight loss progress, bloodwork is reanalyzed at intervals and this process repeats itself until you’ve reached your goals or if our physicians deem it is no longer medically appropriate. Your health and safety is our number one priority.

    Tirzepatide – Mechanism of Action

Tirzepatide is both a glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptor and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist.  It selectively binds to and activates the GIP and GLP-1 receptors, the targets for native GIP and GLP-1 hormones.  GIP and GIP-1 are hormones that are primarily released from the body’s small intestine that enhances the release of insulin following the consumption of food.  Both of these hormones are known as incretins, with tirzepatide belonging to a class of drugs known as incretin mimetics.  Tirzepatide works by directly activating GIP and GLP-1 pathways to help regulate blood sugar.

    Tirzepatide – Adverse Reactions

The most common side effects of tirzepatide include nausea, diarrhea, decreased appetite, vomiting, constipation, indigestion, and stomach (abdominal) pain.  These are not all the possible side effects of Tirzepatide.  Please discuss with your physician the contraindications and other warnings and precautions before starting tirzepatide.
